In 2019 NA CAPE offered a one-week field research trip in Tokyo to undergraduate and honours students to pursue their own independent research project as the city was in preparations to host the Summer Olympic Games in 2020.
After completing an online introduction to Japanese society and culture, life in cities, and training in qualitative data gathering and recording, students were guided through the advancement of a research project they they undertook in Tokyo. Students designed their own projects, and they spanned from architecture to kiwi fruit.
