In September a combination of Japanese cultural events were delivered at Waihi College, Upper Hutt College, and Heretaunga College to year 9 and 10 Japanese language students and their teachers.
Local suppliers of Japanese culture delivered an interactive day incorporating history, cultural context, and associated language. In doing so they were able to illustrate the wider value of learning Japanese and how it is closely connected with Japan’s unique culture.
Wherever possible this programme targets lower decile schools to create opportunities not otherwise able to be advanced through their own resources making North Asia culture and language more accessible to language students.
We look forward to connecting with other high schools in New Zealand to deliver cultural content, and engaging with their students.
