As part of our commitment to supporting small-and-medium-sized businesses in the regions, the North Asia CAPE delivered two half-day workshops on e-commerce in China. Working in partnership with NZ China Cross-Border Electronic Commerce Foundation (NZCCC), we held the sessions in Palmerston North (October) and Queenstown (November). Ralph Shale, an e-payments specialist, joined the Queenstown workshop to give an additional presentation to attendees.
From the outset, we worked closely with the local Councils, Chambers of Commerce, and Export NZ branches to promote the workshops to the regions’ key businesses. We also made contact with the local Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Palmerston North and Queenstown. In Palmerston North we met with Massey University, with the intention of enlisting interested Mandarin-speaking business students able to assist local businesses in servicing their Chinese customers.
Our strong engagement with these key organisations paid off: a diverse group attended the workshops, including representatives from tourism, high-end retail and the local iwi. As a result, discussions were engaging and constructive, with all participants reporting that they found the workshops beneficial.
Our thanks to everyone who helped us deliver these sessions.
