Hong Kong fashion week held from the 8th to 11th of July in Hong Kong is Asia’s largest and the world’s second largest event, which has become the platform for top designers around the world.
North Asia Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence (CAPE) was thrilled and proud to support six New Zealand Māori and Pacific designers by offering them an opportunity to showcase New Zealand talent on a global scale in 2019.
This was a world first to have Māori and Pacific designers present in Hong Kong at Lumiere – a runway and networking event that provides a platform to express unique perspectives and artistic talent to the North Asia market.
Whilst in Hong Kong, the six designers were tasked with developing commercial opportunities and raising export capability for Māori and Pacific enterprise in creative industries. It also opened the way for leveraging relationships in Hong Kong and wider Asia going forward.
