A lecture by the inaugural North Asia CAPE Fellow Professor David Shambaugh (沈大伟)
Where will China’s leader Xi Jinping lead China following his consolidation of power – to an extent unprecedented in China since the days of Deng Xiaoping or Mao Zedong? What are Xi’s and the Chinese Communist Party’s main priorities, and what are the principal policy challenges they face? What are the alternative pathways to the future for China?
Professor David Shambaugh is an internationally-regarded authority and award-winning author on contemporary China and the international relations of Asia. He will examine these questions and and offer his own assessments of likely trajectories based on his four decades of China watching.
A question and answer session will follow Professor Shambaugh’s presentation.
