In 2021, due to restrictions on travel due to Covid-19 NA CAPE will offer our first ever digital language exchange. Participants will undertake a two-week language intensive course and engage directly with families and students in Japan between 10 April, 2021 and 24 April, 2021.

The digital component will be facilitated by the Ishikawa Japanese Studies Centre. Learn more about the programme here:

NA CAPE will host participating students for two half-day sessions in New Zealand where they will have the opportunity to experience Japanese cultural activities, such as taiko drumming and tea ceremony, and will partake in a language 'deep dive' session. These sessions will take place on 10 April and 24 April 2020.

This is part of NA CAPE's efforts to support language and cultural understanding among young New Zealanders, and represents a great opportunity to extend your Japanese skills through an intensive learning experience.

  • Students must be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand.
  • Students must have completed Japanese at a first-year University level or JLPT N5 with grade above B+ or equivalent.
  • Available for approximately 7h a week between 10 April and 24 April, 2021

This is a fully funded programme.

Applications open from February 2021.

Please contact us if you have any questions the interim.
